The Big Day
Well, today I’m getting the book’s pre-order ready. I thought I would have it yesterday, but I made a mistake that required Amazon to help me fix. Thank goodness they did and I was able to go ahead and recreate my file. Also got to try out some new keywords, so that was fun.
Trying to get a vendor spot at Dragon Con, I submitted my application. But then again, I’m brand new, so I’m not sure if they’ll pick me. But It can’t hurt to try. If I make it, I’ll see y’all there. (Or at the masquerade or Friday night costume contest or…)
The last couple of weeks have been such a flurry of work. It’s weird to think it used to be a struggle to just sit down and do, really, anything. But now there are so many different directions I’m being pulled that I feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day. It’s a good feeling.
But today will be the day I have a preorder link for my book. I think. It’s already in the “Pre-order Publishing” stage. Once those little letters turn green, it will be Pre-order Live.”
And then I have to get out there and start telling people it exists. That’s the hard part, being all extroverted and talking to people.
Side note: You know, if you want to become a writer because you are introverted and like to crawl up in a hole, well, it doesn’t exactly work like that. You still have to get out in front of people.
Another side note: My grammar isn’t going to be perfect in these blogs. I’m not paying editor prices to go through them, thanks.
Third side note: This is my third iteration of this particular blog post. I don’t know what’s blocking me today, but let’s just push through.
Well, so, yeah. I need to come up with a one sentence summary of my book. I liked my two sentence one but guess it needs to be punched up a bit. For me, these are the hardest parts of the job - blurb, keywords, marketing sentences. Especially since I wrote a book that is more urban sci-fi than fantasy but also includes crimes and conspiracy theories - it’s hard to know what tack to take. And it needs to be good because hey, that’s what people are going to see.
So I’m off to finish my day of work, and hopefully I can get back to writing very soon. I have three novels swimming in my head that are ready to hit the page. Screen? Computer? Well, you know what I mean.
It’s finally happening!
